Thu Jan 23 10:09:51 UTC 2025: ## Prithvi Shaw Omitted From Mumbai Ranji Trophy Team Despite Initial Selection

**Mumbai, India** – Young cricketer Prithvi Shaw has been dropped from Mumbai’s playing XI for their Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir. While initially selected for the first round of matches, Shaw was later omitted due to concerns regarding his form, fitness, and disciplinary issues. This follows his exclusion from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad for similar reasons.

Shaw’s omission comes despite a strong first-class record: 4556 runs at an average of 46.02 in 58 matches, including 13 centuries and 18 half-centuries. However, Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer previously commented that Shaw needs to improve his discipline to reach his full potential.

In response to his exclusion, Shaw posted an Instagram story stating, “You can keep me out of the game, but you can’t stop me from doing my job.”

In the match against Jammu and Kashmir, India captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings in Shaw’s place. Neither batsman performed well, with Sharma scoring 3 runs off 19 balls and Jaiswal managing only 4 runs. This disappointing performance adds to the ongoing debate surrounding Shaw’s exclusion and Mumbai’s batting woes.
