Wed Jan 22 13:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Buttler Matches Pooran’s Record with Fighting Fifty Against India
**Ahmedabad, India –** England captain Jos Buttler equalled a remarkable record in the first T20I against India on January 22nd. His 44-ball 68, a lone hand in a collapsing innings, tied him with West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran for the most fifty-plus scores against India in T20I history – five each.
Despite Buttler’s impressive performance, England were bowled out for a paltry 132 after India won the toss and elected to field. Only Harry Brook and Jofra Archer reached double figures alongside the captain.
Buttler’s innings moves him into second place on the list of highest run-scorers against India in T20Is, trailing only Pooran. Other players with multiple fifty-plus scores against India include Quinton de Kock (South Africa), Glenn Maxwell (Australia), and Colin Munro (New Zealand). Buttler now eyes becoming the first batter to surpass 600 T20I runs against India.
