**Bengaluru, January 22, 2025** – Bommanahalli police have arrested a 45-year-old fortune teller, B.M. Venkataramana, for allegedly robbing 115 grams of gold jewelry from a homemaker last March. Venkataramana, apprehended while acting suspiciously near the scene of the original crime, confessed to the robbery during questioning.

Police recovered gold jewelry worth ₹8 lakhs (approximately $9,700 USD) which he had pawned in Chintamani. An additional 20 grams of gold, linked to a separate house break-in reported last year, was also recovered.

The accused tricked the victim by claiming to perform a puja to remove a supposed black magic curse. He instructed her to place her gold in an earthen pot, then switched it with a similar pot containing only vermilion, turmeric, and rice.

Inspector Pritham A.D. stated that the victim only discovered the theft after several hours and subsequently filed a police report. Police subsequently increased patrols in the area and apprehended Venkataramana near the Bommanahalli bus stand. The arrest has successfully solved both cases.
