Wed Jan 22 17:20:00 UTC 2025: ## NBA Game Postponed, Gulf Coast Winter Storm Causes Havoc

**New Orleans, LA** – The New Orleans Pelicans and Milwaukee Bucks game scheduled for Wednesday at the Smoothie King Center has been postponed due to the severe winter storm that ravaged the Gulf Coast region. The NBA announced the postponement, citing hazardous conditions caused by record-breaking snowfall and frigid temperatures.

The storm, which brought 10 inches of snow to New Orleans – shattering the previous record of 2.7 inches set in 1963 – has resulted in at least nine fatalities. Baton Rouge Airport Ryan Field reported its coldest temperature on record, tying the second coldest temperature ever recorded for the area at 7 degrees Fahrenheit.

This marks the second NBA game postponement this month due to inclement weather. A game between the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks was previously called off due to severe conditions in Atlanta. Both the Pelicans and Bucks, who were riding four-game winning streaks, will have their matchup rescheduled at a later date.

The impact of Winter Storm Enzo extends beyond the NBA. The women’s college basketball game between No. 2 South Carolina and No. 5 LSU, originally slated for Thursday, has been postponed until Friday due to travel difficulties for the LSU Tigers. LSU’s Sunday game against Texas A&M remains scheduled.
