**DECATUR, GA** – An early morning house fire on Bentley Woods Lane in DeKalb County sent two children to the hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation. Firefighters responded to the blaze around 2 a.m. Wednesday, encountering heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the residence.
The fire, which displaced one adult and three children, was quickly extinguished. While two children were evaluated by paramedics for smoke inhalation, their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. First responders throughout metro Atlanta faced challenging conditions due to icy roads caused by Tuesday night’s winter storm, potentially impacting response times.
