Wed Jan 22 17:32:07 UTC 2025: ## Ayodhya’s Grand Ram Temple Opens: A Marvel of Traditional Architecture and Modern Engineering

**Ayodhya, India** – The grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, constructed in the traditional Nagara style of North Indian temple architecture, has been inaugurated. The three-story temple, measuring 380 feet long, 250 feet wide, and 161 feet high, features 392 pillars and 44 doors. Each floor stands 20 feet tall.

The temple’s sanctum sanctorum houses a new eight-foot-tall statue of Lord Ram as a five-year-old child, sculpted by Arun Yogiraj of Mysore. The first floor showcases a depiction of the Ram Darbar. Five mandapas (pavilions) – namely, Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prarthana Mandap, and Kirtan Mandap – are also part of the temple complex. Intricate carvings adorn the entire structure.

The temple complex encompasses a vast area, including a 732-meter-long, 14-meter-wide rectangular enclosure. Smaller temples dedicated to Surya (Sun God), Bhagwati (Goddess), Ganesha, Shiva, Annapurna, and Hanuman are situated within the perimeter.

Built to withstand the test of time, the Ram Temple incorporates cutting-edge engineering and seismic technology, designed to remain structurally sound for the next 1,000 years. A 21-foot-high granite plinth protects the structure from ground moisture, and it’s engineered to withstand an 8.0 magnitude earthquake. Accessibility features for senior citizens and differently-abled individuals are also integrated into the design. Amenities include washrooms, lockers, and an emergency medical facility. A visitor center with a capacity of 25,000 people has also been constructed.

The temple is conveniently located six kilometers from Ayodhya Dham railway station, providing easy access via taxis, auto-rickshaws, and buses.
