**Mumbai, January 21** – Actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai today, five days after being stabbed six times during a home invasion. The 54-year-old actor, who underwent emergency surgery to remove a 2.5-inch piece of knife from his spine, was seen leaving the hospital in a car, giving a thumbs-up to waiting paparazzi and supporters.
Khan was attacked early Thursday, January 16th, by an intruder who police believe was attempting a burglary. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi citizen working for a local housekeeping agency, was arrested on Sunday. Police say Shehzad stabbed Khan while trying to escape the actor’s grasp.
Doctors have described Khan’s injuries as serious, stating that the knife narrowly missed vital organs. He was reportedly greeted at his residence, Satguru Sharan in Bandra, by his wife Kareena Kapoor, who had earlier visited him at the hospital. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
