**Chandigarh, India –** Olympic javelin gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has married Himani Mor, a former tennis player and sports management graduate, in a private ceremony in Himachal Pradesh. The intimate three-day wedding, held from January 14th to 16th, included only close family members, totaling approximately 65-70 guests.
Chopra’s uncle, Surendra Chopra, revealed details of the nuptials, describing it as a “love-cum-arranged marriage.” The couple, who met in the USA, sought and received their families’ blessings before proceeding with the wedding. The ceremony was kept discreet, with even the officiating priest unaware of Chopra’s identity.
The family emphasized their commitment to rejecting dowry traditions, accepting only a symbolic one rupee as a “shagun” (auspicious gift). Himani Mor also participated in pre-wedding rituals, including a visit to Chopra’s village.
The decision to marry now, according to Surendra Chopra, was due to Chopra’s busy athletic schedule over the next two years. The uncle described the event as a joyous family celebration focused on quality time spent in the mountains. The wedding took place at a mountain resort and was followed by the reception.
