Tue Jan 21 09:27:09 IST 2025: ## Kangana Ranaut’s “Emergency” Outpaces Ajay Devgn’s “Maidaan” at Box Office

**Mumbai, India** – Kangana Ranaut’s historical drama “Emergency” continues to outperform Ajay Devgn’s “Maidaan” at the box office, though both films experienced a significant drop in earnings on their fourth day (Monday).

According to Sacnilk, “Emergency” collected ₹1 crore on Day 4, bringing its total to ₹11.35 crore. While this represents a considerable decrease from its opening weekend, it still significantly surpasses the performance of “Maidaan.” “Maidaan” earned only ₹0.53 crore on its fourth day, accumulating a total of ₹5.08 crore. Both films had similar theatre occupancy rates, around 7%.

The disparity in box office performance is particularly striking considering the difference in production budgets. “Emergency,” made on a budget of approximately ₹60 crore, is faring better than “Maidaan,” which had an ₹80 crore budget.

“Emergency,” directed by and starring Kangana Ranaut, focuses on Indira Gandhi’s actions during the Emergency. “Maidaan,” meanwhile, a historical drama directed by Ajay Devgn and starring his son Aaman Devgan, tells a different story.

Despite the disappointing numbers for both films, the significant gap between “Emergency” and “Maidaan’s” performance remains a key takeaway. The coming days will reveal whether either film can reverse its downward trend.
