**Chandigarh, India:** Yograj Singh, father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has lauded the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and selectors for retaining Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking to ANI, Singh expressed relief that key players weren’t dropped despite recent setbacks, emphasizing the importance of Sharma and Kohli to the team’s structure. He stated that dropping either player would significantly weaken the team.
The squad, announced Saturday by Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma, will compete in the Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan and the UAE from February 19th to March 9th. India’s matches will be played in the UAE. The tournament features a group stage, with India facing Bangladesh on February 20th, Pakistan on February 23rd, and New Zealand on March 2nd, all in Dubai. Singh’s comments come amidst debate surrounding the form of some senior players. He specifically praised the selectors for their decision and congratulated the BCCI for their support of the team. The complete Indian squad includes Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja.
