**Mandya, Karnataka –** Thirty-three passengers were injured when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus overturned near Rudrakshipura in Mandya district on January 20, 2024. The bus, traveling from Chamarajanagar to Bengaluru, veered off the road after the driver reportedly lost control.
Injured passengers were immediately transported to Maddur Taluk Hospital. While most sustained minor injuries, three passengers suffered head injuries and are slated to be transferred to either Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) or NIMHANS in Bengaluru for specialized care.
Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar visited the hospital and confirmed that injured passengers have the option of receiving treatment at a private hospital with KSRTC covering all expenses. The administration is also working to assist any students among the injured who may miss exams due to the accident. Several other officials, including the CEO of Mandya Zilla Panchayat and the District Health and Family Welfare Officer, also visited the hospital to assess the situation. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
