**Lucknow, India** – Rumors of an engagement between Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MLA Priya Saroj have been denied by Saroj’s father, Tufani Saroj. While confirming that both Singh and his daughter have expressed a desire to marry and sought parental permission, Saroj clarified that no formal engagement has taken place.
“Both the children have expressed their desire to get married and have sought our permission,” Saroj told ANI. “The engagement has not taken place yet. Initial talks have taken place in this regard.”
The clarification comes after online reports claimed the pair were engaged. Saroj, also a Samajwadi Party MLA, emphasized that while preliminary discussions have occurred, the engagement process is yet to commence.
The news follows a successful year for Rinku Singh, who has cemented his place in the Indian T20 team after a strong showing in the recent T20 World Cup. His impressive List-A record includes 1,899 runs in 52 innings at an average of 48.69, and a noteworthy T20I record of 507 runs in 22 innings at a strike rate of 165.14. He is also a key player for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
