**Kolkata, Jan 19, 2025** – Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was found guilty by a Kolkata court today. The verdict, delivered after a 57-day in-camera trial, concluded with Roy being convicted under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to rape, murder, and death. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which investigated the case, has sought the death penalty for Roy, who they identified as the sole perpetrator.
