**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after a terrifying home invasion early Thursday morning in which he was stabbed multiple times. Police have arrested a suspect, identified as 30-year-old Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, a Bangladeshi national residing in Mumbai under the alias Bijoy Das.

The attack occurred at Khan’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai. Shahzad allegedly entered the building, possibly via a fire escape, and confronted Khan and his family, including his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two sons. A nurse caring for the youngest child, along with another staffer, also sustained minor injuries.

Khan sustained six stab wounds, including injuries to his neck and near his spine. He underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, where a 2.5-inch piece of the blade was removed from near his spine. Doctors report he is now recovering well.

Shahzad, who worked for a housekeeping company, was apprehended near Hiranandani Estate in Thane, approximately 35 kilometers from the crime scene. Police recovered items indicating his Bangladeshi origin; he reportedly had no Indian documents. Authorities believe the attack stemmed from an attempted robbery, with the assailant initially demanding a ransom of 1 crore rupees (approximately $1.2 million USD).

The incident sparked a massive manhunt, with Mumbai police deploying approximately 30 teams. While another individual, Aakash Kailash Kannojia, was briefly detained in connection with the case, his involvement remains unclear. Kannojia was apprehended at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh after Mumbai Police provided his photograph and travel details to the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Initial reports indicated the intruder was seen on CCTV footage within the building. While there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment, police believe the intruder may have scaled a wall from an adjacent building to access the premises. The investigation is ongoing.
