**Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala –** The Kudumbashree’s two-day International Children’s Summit on Zero Waste Management concluded today, leaving a legacy of innovative ideas and a renewed hope for a cleaner future. The summit, which featured presentations by children on waste management solutions, awarded top prizes to Sivanandan C. of Kollam, Chandan of Kozhikode, Devananda of Kannur, Abhinanda of Wayanad, and Athira Babu of Palakkad for their exceptional paper presentations. Wayanad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kasaragod districts also received awards for their outstanding district stalls.
Minister for Local Self-government M.B. Rajesh, in a video message, lauded the Kudumbashree Balasabha members as ambassadors for cleanliness, emphasizing that discarding waste signifies an underdeveloped society and urging a societal shift away from this practice. He expressed great optimism about the children’s findings.
Kudumbashree executive director Dineshan H. announced that the Udhyam Learning Foundation would provide financial assistance to help children implement the solutions proposed in their research. Environmental activist Ridhima Pandey, who presented the Thiruvananthapuram Declaration urging the Union government to establish a national university focused on waste management in Kerala, also distributed awards.
