Sandesh of the Karnataka High Court laid the foundation stone for a new court building in Bagalkot on Saturday, expressing concerns about declining lawyer integrity and the need for judicial independence. He emphasized the importance of upholding professional dignity within the judiciary, stating that justice should never be compromised for monetary gain.

Justice Sandesh stressed the crucial role of an independent judiciary, free from executive or legislative interference, as a cornerstone of a progressive society. He urged introspection on the dwindling numbers of lawyers prioritizing ethical conduct, highlighting the sacrifices of freedom fighters whose vision of a strong India seems to be fading.

In a related concern, Justice Hanchate Sanjeev Kumar noted the insufficient number of courts in India compared to developed nations, advocating for improved court facilities and the establishment of a legal training institution in North Karnataka to address regional development issues.

The event, attended by numerous dignitaries including fellow judges, MPs, MLAs, and bar association representatives, marked a significant step towards improving judicial infrastructure in the region.
