**NEW DELHI** – India unveiled its squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and an upcoming ODI series against England on Saturday, sparking immediate debate over both inclusions and omissions. Captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the 15-man team at a press conference, with the biggest surprise being the appointment of Shubman Gill as vice-captain.
The selection of pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, whose fitness remains a question mark, also generated significant interest. Agarkar stated that a further update on Bumrah’s condition will be provided in February. Meanwhile, the selectors opted for KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant as wicketkeepers, overlooking Sanju Samson. Other notable omissions include Mohammed Siraj. The squad does, however, include Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami, both returning from injury.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir was absent from the press conference, having already contributed to the selection process in a meeting with Rohit Sharma and the selectors on Friday.
**The full Indian squad is:** Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.
