Sat Jan 18 19:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Launches Taluk-Level Education Reform Committees

**Bengaluru, January 19, 2025** – The Karnataka government announced the formation of taluk-level education reform committees to expedite the implementation and monitoring of educational programs and development projects. Each committee, headed by a local MLA, will comprise a diverse group of members including tahsildars, executive officers of taluk panchayats, headmasters and principals of schools with the highest enrollment, a senior DIET lecturer, and two members from School Development and Monitoring Committees (SDMCs). The government will also appoint five additional members representing graduates, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, other backward classes, women, and the general category. Block Education Officers will serve as member-secretaries.

These committees will focus on improving key aspects of the education sector, including student enrollment, attendance, learning outcomes, and efficient use of resources. Their responsibilities include boosting school enrollment, monitoring attendance and learning progress, reducing dropout rates, and fostering community participation in school development through initiatives like corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
