**Berlin, Germany** – Cameron Diaz is back on the big screen after a ten-year hiatus, making her highly anticipated return in the Netflix action-comedy, “Back in Action,” alongside Jamie Foxx. Diaz, 52, credits Foxx, 57, with persuading her to take on the role, her first film since 2014’s “Annie.”
Speaking on “The Graham Norton Show,” Diaz revealed that she spent the past decade prioritizing her family life, but Foxx’s involvement and the script convinced her to return. “I had 10 years of not paying attention to anything…then I got this script and thought that maybe it was time,” she explained, adding that working with Foxx, whom she called “the most talented man in the entertainment business,” made the decision easier.
While attending the Berlin premiere of “Back in Action,” Diaz hinted that this comeback may not be permanent. In an interview with Empire magazine, she stated, “It’s hard to say” if this marks a permanent return to acting, adding that she reserves the right to say yes or no to future projects.
Foxx previously confirmed his role in convincing Diaz to return, telling Entertainment Tonight that he simply asked, “Do you wanna have some fun?” Diaz herself had previously explained her retirement in 2021, citing a desire to focus on managing her life and family.
“Back in Action,” which sees Diaz and Foxx reuniting as former CIA spies, premiered on Netflix on January 17th, marking Diaz’s first movie premiere in 11 years.
