Sat Jan 18 18:27:18 UTC 2025: ## Rohit Sharma Questions BCCI’s New Player Guidelines; Agarkar Defends Rules

**Mumbai, India** – Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma expressed reservations about newly implemented BCCI guidelines for players following India’s loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The guidelines, reportedly comprising ten points, include restrictions on playing domestic cricket and a ban on players bringing their families on tours.

During a press conference announcing the Champions Trophy squad on Saturday, Sharma questioned the authenticity of the leaked rules, asking, “Who told you about these rules? Have they come from the official BCCI handle? Let them be officially announced.” He also revealed that several players had contacted him regarding the new regulations.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar defended the guidelines, stating, “Every team has certain rules, and you follow them while playing. It’s not a school. It’s not a punishment. You naturally follow certain things, as every team does. Many of them are already in place, and as you move forward, you keep refining them.”

Agarkar’s comments came in response to Sharma’s concerns and queries regarding the new rules, clarifying that they are not punitive measures but standard operating procedures for the national team. The press conference also addressed the selection of the Champions Trophy squad, with notable omissions sparking further discussion. The squad includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, and other prominent players. The absence of Mohammad Siraj from the squad was also explained by Captain Sharma. The BCCI is yet to officially release the ten-point guideline document.
