**CHENNAI, January 19, 2025** – The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) expelled party functionary B. Senthil Murugan on Sunday for defying the party’s decision to boycott the upcoming Erode East by-election. Senthil Murugan, a joint secretary in the AIADMK’s MGR youth wing in Erode, filed his nomination as an independent candidate.
In a statement, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami cited Senthil Murugan’s actions as a breach of party discipline and a disrepute to the AIADMK. The party had previously announced its boycott of the February 5th bypoll, alleging the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government would manipulate the election.
