**Katihar, Bihar, January 19, 2025** – A boat carrying 17 people capsized in the Ganga river near Golaghat in Bihar’s Katihar district on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of three and leaving four others missing. Ten individuals were rescued, most swimming to safety.
The accident occurred near Golaghat in the Amdabad area. Authorities have identified two of the deceased as Pawan Kumar (60) and Sudhir Mandal (70). The identity of the third victim remains unknown.
A rescue operation is ongoing to locate the four missing persons. District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena has ordered an investigation to determine the cause of the capsizing.
