Sun Jan 19 16:58:27 UTC 2025: ## Sanju Samson’s Father Accuses Kerala Cricket Association of Bias

**Thiruvananthapuram:** Samson Viswanath, father of Indian cricketer Sanju Samson, has leveled serious allegations against the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), accusing them of bias against his son. Viswanath claims that certain individuals within the KCA harbor ill-will towards Sanju and that his exclusion from the Vijay Hazare Trophy was a predetermined decision, made even before the camp began. He noted that other players who skipped the camp were selected for the tournament, while Sanju was not.

Viswanath expressed his concerns to Mathrubhumi.com, stating that he suspects a deliberate attempt to sideline his son. While acknowledging that Sanju wasn’t the only player absent from the camp, he highlighted the discrepancy that others who missed the camp were included in the squad. He hinted at unnamed individuals within the KCA being responsible for the decision, suggesting a personal vendetta rather than a purely sporting selection. He further alleged that attempts were made to also block opportunities for his elder son, who he claims had equal or better talent.

He recounted a past incident where a former KCA president, T.C. Mathew, allegedly spoke disrespectfully to him when he sought leave for his injured son. Viswanath emphasized that while he acknowledges and appreciates the KCA’s past support, his only plea is for fair treatment for his son. He reaffirmed his commitment to the sport and rejected any involvement in the business side of cricket.

This comes after MP Shashi Tharoor criticized the KCA for Sanju’s omission from the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy, suggesting that the egos of cricket authorities were harming Sanju’s career. Viswanath’s accusations add fuel to the ongoing controversy surrounding the KCA’s selection practices.
