**Greater Noida, India** – The second day of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 saw a flurry of new vehicle launches and technological showcases. The highlight was the unveiling of India’s first solar-powered car, the Wave Eva, by Pune-based startup Wave Mobility. This compact two-seater (plus one child) boasts a claimed range of 250 kilometers on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in 5 seconds. The Eva is priced at ₹3.25 lakh (ex-showroom) with a battery subscription plan, or ₹3.99 lakh without. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2026.
BMW also made a splash, launching four new models following the Friday launch of the iX1 LWB. These included the Mini Cooper S JCW Pack, the new BMW X3 (priced at ₹75.80 lakh and ₹77.80 lakh for petrol and diesel variants respectively), the S 1000 RR motorcycle (₹21.10 lakh), and the R 1300 GSA Adventure motorcycle (₹22.90 lakh).
Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast made its Indian debut, unveiling its flagship electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7, featuring an airplane-inspired design and an edge-to-edge moonroof. While these, along with other VinFast models (VF3, VFe34, VF8, VF9, and a VF Wild pickup truck) were showcased, they are not initially slated for the Indian market. The VF 6 and VF 7 are expected to be available later this year.
Other notable launches included:
* **Hyundai’s Ioniq 9:** A three-row electric SUV with a 620km range and 24-minute charging time (10-80%). Expected launch in India later this year.
* **BYD’s Sealion 7:** An all-electric coupe-SUV with bookings opening at ₹70,000. Deliveries are expected to start in March.
* **MG Gloster Facelift (Majester):** A premium SUV aiming to compete with Toyota Fortuner and similar models.
Adding to the futuristic flair, Sarla Aviation unveiled its six-seater prototype air taxi, “Shunya,” aiming for Bengaluru launches by 2028.
The expo also featured showcases from established brands like Maruti Suzuki (e-Vitara), Hyundai (Creta EV), and Tata Motors, among others. The event runs until January 22nd and is expected to draw over 500,000 visitors. Entry is free with online registration.
