**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Shirsat has condemned the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, dismissing suggestions that the incident is being used for political purposes. While expressing his outrage at the attack, Shirsat stated that blaming any specific group is premature and unhelpful. He emphasized that the state government is actively investigating the incident and working to apprehend the assailant.
A new CCTV video has emerged, showing a suspect with a covered face carrying a bag and entering Ali Khan’s building in Bandra shortly before the attack. Police have confirmed that a suspect matching the description in the video has been detained for questioning, though no arrests have been made yet. A massive investigation involving 35 teams from the Mumbai Police is underway.
Ali Khan suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and other parts of his body during the early morning attack on Thursday and underwent emergency surgery.
Shirsat criticized the opposition for attempting to exploit the incident for political gain, accusing them of fueling communal tensions. He stated that the government will not be deterred by such tactics and will focus on bringing the perpetrators to justice.
