**Mumbai, India** – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced the Indian squads for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy 2025. Captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealed the teams at a press conference following a lengthy selection meeting.

**Champions Trophy 2025 Squad:** Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja.

**England ODI Series Squad:** The squad for the England series is almost identical, with the exception of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been rested due to a back injury. Harshit Rana replaces him in the ODI squad. Shubman Gill has been named vice-captain for both squads. Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul will serve as wicket-keeping options.

**Key Highlights:**

* Yashasvi Jaiswal receives his maiden ODI call-up.
* Mohammed Shami returns to the ODI team after a period of absence.
* Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja will provide spin bowling options.
* Rishabh Pant is the first-choice wicket-keeper.
* Bumrah’s participation in the Champions Trophy will depend on his fitness, with an update expected before February.
* Rohit Sharma confirmed his participation in a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai.
* India’s Champions Trophy group matches will be played against Bangladesh (February 20th), Pakistan (February 23rd), and New Zealand (March 2nd), all in Dubai.
* The England ODI series will be played on February 6th, 9th, and 12th.

Rohit Sharma stated that Jaiswal’s selection was based on his impressive performance, despite lacking ODI experience. He explained the omission of Mohammed Siraj, citing his less effective bowling with the older ball. Agarkar commented on Karun Nair’s impressive Vijay Hazare Trophy performance (752 runs in 8 matches), but noted that a place in the current squad was difficult to accommodate.

The selection process considered factors such as player form, fitness, and suitability to Dubai conditions for the Champions Trophy. The press conference addressed speculation surrounding various players, including the roles of Pant and Rahul as wicketkeepers, and the batting order, with Shreyas Iyer likely to continue at number four.
