Sat Jan 18 02:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Six Planets Put on a Celestial Show This Month

**New York, NY** – Stargazers are in for a treat this month as six planets align in a spectacular planetary parade visible from Earth. This celestial event, while not a perfectly straight line, sees several planets clustered together in the night sky. According to planetary experts, such alignments occur at least annually, depending on the number of participating planets. A similar event occurred last June, but fewer planets were visible without equipment.

This month’s parade features Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, all easily visible to the naked eye. Uranus and Neptune, while requiring binoculars or telescopes, also join the show. Mars is particularly bright this month due to its position opposite the sun. A special highlight will occur Friday and Saturday nights, when Venus and Saturn appear exceptionally close together.

For optimal viewing, find a clear, cloudless night and look south a few hours after sunset. Venus and Saturn will be in the southwestern sky, Jupiter to the south, and Mars in the southeast or east. The planets will outshine the stars, with Mars appearing as a distinctive reddish-orange point of light. Smartphone stargazing apps can aid in locating the planets.

The show will continue into February, with Mercury joining the lineup at month’s end, adding a seventh planet to the display. The planetary parade will then gradually conclude throughout the spring. The event, experts say, provides a unique perspective on our place within the solar system and the vastness of the universe.
