Mumbai, India – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan underwent emergency surgery after being stabbed multiple times by an intruder at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning. Police sources say the attacker, who remains at large, demanded a ₹1 crore (approximately $120,000 USD) ransom.
The incident occurred around 2:30 am when the intruder, after a confrontation with a housemaid, attacked Ali Khan when he intervened. A 2.5-inch piece of a knife was surgically removed from Ali Khan’s spine. He also sustained injuries to his neck and hand. Doctors at Lilavati Hospital, where Ali Khan is receiving treatment, report him to be stable and out of danger.
Police have launched a large-scale manhunt, deploying 20 teams to apprehend the suspect. Initial reports suggest the attacker may have entered the building earlier and hidden, as CCTV footage did not capture his entry. While police initially suggested robbery as the motive, further investigation suggests a potential connection between the intruder and household staff.
