Fri Jan 17 05:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Singer Ethel Cain Stirs Controversy with Comments on CEO Killing

**NEW YORK, NY** – Singer-songwriter Ethel Cain has ignited a firestorm of controversy following social media posts appearing to condone the recent murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. In a series of Instagram stories, Cain used the hashtag “#KillMoreCEOs” in response to a post criticizing corporate influence in politics.

Cain’s comments followed the arrest of Luigi Mangione, who allegedly killed Thompson. While stating she wasn’t trying to be reactionary, Cain argued that corporations are unresponsive to protests and that violence may be necessary to effect change. She wrote, “It’s simple, you make them fear for their lives and hit them in the only place they hurt or nothing will ever get done,” adding, “‘Violence is never the answer’ [is] wrong. Sometimes it is.”

This isn’t Cain’s first public comment on the killing. Following Mangione’s arrest, she posted, “Violence begets violence.” Mangione’s manifesto reportedly indicated animosity towards corporate America. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and terror charges and faces life imprisonment if convicted.

Cain’s provocative statements have sparked intense debate online, with some supporting her views and others strongly condemning them. The comments come on the heels of the release of her new album, *Perverts*.
