Thu Jan 16 11:55:06 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Air Quality Improves Slightly After Rainfall, But Fog Delays Trains
**NEW DELHI, January 16, 2025** – Delhi’s air quality saw a slight improvement Thursday morning, moving from “severe” to “very poor,” according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 356. Overnight rainfall, brought by a cold wave and increased pollution, offered some respite to residents. While the rain improved air quality, there were no reports of flooding or waterlogging.
However, the reprieve was short-lived as dense fog, predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), continued to disrupt travel. The IMD forecast predicts light rain or drizzle with fog throughout the week. This resulted in delays for 29 trains arriving in Delhi, according to Indian Railways. Wednesday saw a significant fog event, lasting three hours, which impacted over 100 flights and 26 trains. Visibility dropped to zero at Safdarjung and IGI Airport for a period.
Temperatures in Delhi are expected to remain low, with a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 17 degrees Celsius. An orange alert has been issued for the bad weather conditions, advising drivers to use caution and fog lights and travelers to check with transportation authorities for schedule updates.
