Thu Jan 16 10:19:04 UTC 2025: ## Two CRPF Commandos Injured in Chhattisgarh Naxalite IED Blast
**Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, January 16, 2025** – Two commandos from the CRPF’s elite CoBRA unit were injured in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Thursday after triggering a pressure-activated improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites. The incident occurred during an early morning area domination operation conducted by a joint team of security forces in the Basaguda police station area.
The injured constables, Mridul Barman and Mohd Ishaq, from the CoBRA 206th battalion, received preliminary treatment at a nearby CRPF camp before being transferred to a hospital in Raipur for further medical attention. Authorities report both are out of danger.
This is the latest in a series of IED attacks in the Bastar region. Over the past week, similar incidents have resulted in injuries to civilians and security personnel, and tragically, an IED blast on January 6th killed eight police personnel and their driver. Naxalites frequently use IEDs to target security forces and civilians in the region’s forested areas.
