**Mumbai, India –** Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering well after undergoing emergency surgery for stab wounds sustained during a home invasion last night. The 54-year-old actor was attacked at his Bandra residence by an intruder who managed to escape.
According to Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, where Khan was admitted at 2 am, the attacker inflicted a major injury to Khan’s thoracic spine, lodging a knife shard. The surgery involved removing the knife fragment and repairing a leak of spinal fluid. Khan also received plastic surgery for deep wounds to his left hand and neck. While the hospital initially reported six stab wounds, the doctor confirmed the spinal injury was the most serious.
Khan’s son, Ibrahim, rushed his injured father to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw after a car was unavailable.
Police have identified a suspect and formed ten teams to apprehend him. Preliminary investigations suggest the attacker entered the house intending to rob Khan. Further details will be released upon the suspect’s arrest. Doctors at Lilavati Hospital are optimistic about a full recovery for the actor.
