**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after being stabbed multiple times during a home invasion at his Bandra residence early Thursday morning. Police have released CCTV footage and a still image of the suspect, a man seen carrying a backpack and wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

The attacker, who allegedly demanded ₹1 crore (approximately $120,000 USD), gained access to Khan’s four-story apartment by scaling a wall and using a fire escape. He is believed to have planned a robbery. Khan confronted the intruder, resulting in a struggle during which Khan sustained six stab wounds to his hand, neck, and spine. Two house helps were also injured.

Khan’s son, Ibrahim, rushed him to Lilavati Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a knife lodged in his spine and repair other injuries. Hospital officials reported that Khan is now stable and out of danger.

Mumbai Police have launched a major investigation, forming at least eight teams to apprehend the suspect. The Crime Branch is also involved. Charges of robbery, trespassing, and grievous hurt have been filed.

The attack has sparked criticism of the state government’s law and order situation, particularly from opposition leaders. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis defended Mumbai’s safety record, while others pointed to recent incidents of violence against high-profile figures in the Bandra area, including the murder of former minister Baba Siddique and a shooting outside Salman Khan’s home. The incident has raised concerns about the security of celebrities and residents in Mumbai’s affluent neighborhoods.
