Wed Jan 15 22:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Massive Landfill Search Underway for Missing Michigan Woman

**ROSEVILLE, Mich. (AP)** — A massive search is underway at the Pine Tree Acres landfill in Lenox Township, Michigan, for the remains of 30-year-old Ashley Elkins, who has been missing since January 3rd. Dozens of law enforcement officers from various agencies, clad in protective suits, are combing the vast landfill, hoping to bring closure to Elkins’ family.

Roseville Police Chief Mitch Berlin confirmed the search, stating that the operation involved 40 to 50 officers and would continue into Tuesday. Elkins’ car was found in Roseville, while she resided in nearby Warren. A former boyfriend has already been charged with lying to police during the investigation.

The Pine Tree landfill, which receives waste from across southeastern Michigan, is no stranger to such searches. In 2022, a months-long search for the remains of 17-year-old Zion Foster proved unsuccessful, despite a man being convicted of her murder. The current search for Elkins is generating significant attention given the scale of the operation and the previous, high-profile search at the same location.
