Thu Jan 16 04:54:11 UTC 2025: ## Indian Flatbread Sparks Outrage After Ranking on “World’s Worst Foods” List

**NEW DELHI, INDIA** – A popular Punjabi flatbread, Missi roti, has ignited a fiery debate online after being ranked 56th on TasteAtlas’s “100 Worst Rated Foods in the World” list. The list, compiled from over 385,000 verified ratings from TasteAtlas users, placed a Lapland dumpling called Blodpalt in the bottom spot.

Missi roti, a spiced whole wheat and gram flour flatbread, is a staple in Punjabi cuisine. While many praised its flavour and texture when served with accompanying dishes like dal makhani, its placement on the “worst foods” list sparked outrage among Indian food enthusiasts.

A Reddit post highlighting the ranking drew numerous comments defending the dish. One user jokingly suggested the raters “just tried roti without any curry,” while another commented that “people addicted to toasted bread every day won’t know the taste of Missi Roti.” Many argued the ranking was unfair, pointing out that Missi roti’s flavor is greatly enhanced by pairings with curries and dals.

TasteAtlas itself notes that its rankings are not definitive and should not be taken as the final word on global cuisine. This disclaimer, however, did little to quell the online outcry sparked by the inclusion of a beloved Indian dish on the controversial list. The incident serves as a reminder of the subjective nature of food preferences and the passionate reactions they can evoke.
