Wed Jan 15 18:24:42 UTC 2025: ## Kochi Metro Launches Electric Feeder Bus Service

**Kochi, Kerala, January 16, 2025** – Kochi’s metro system received a boost yesterday with the launch of “Metro Connect,” a fleet of 15 electric feeder buses aimed at improving last-mile connectivity. Industries Minister P. Rajeeve flagged off the service, which initially will operate on the Aluva-Airport and Kalamassery routes, expanding to other areas gradually.

The buses, offering amenities similar to metro trains including mobile charging units, will run frequently during peak and off-peak hours across various routes, connecting key locations such as the Government Medical College Hospital, High Court, and Infopark.

Minister Rajeeve explained the launch as a solution to limited parking space available for the metro project. He also highlighted upcoming development projects in Kalamassery, including the inauguration of a new Government Medical College Hospital block, approval of the Judicial City project design, prioritization of the Sea Port-Airport Road project, and a ₹900-crore logistics project. The event was attended by several officials, including MPs and MLAs. The service begins today.
