**Mumbai, India –** Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his Mumbai residence early Wednesday morning in what police are investigating as a robbery attempt. A First Information Report (FIR) reveals the assailant, who has been apprehended, demanded a ₹1 crore (approximately $120,000 USD) ransom during the attack.
According to the police complaint filed by Eliama Philip, a staff nurse employed by the Khan family for four years, the incident occurred around 2:00 AM. The assailant, initially undetected, entered Khan’s apartment and confronted Philip, threatening her with a blade and demanding silence. A struggle ensued, resulting in injuries to Philip’s hands.
The attacker then confronted Saif Ali Khan, who was also injured in the ensuing scuffle. The FIR details multiple stab wounds to Khan’s neck, shoulder, back, wrist, and elbow. Khan and his family were able to subdue the attacker temporarily, giving them time to escape and alert other staff. By the time they returned, the assailant had fled the scene.
CCTV footage has emerged showing the suspect escaping from the building. Khan is currently hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital with injuries to his spine and is reported to be in stable condition. Doctors have confirmed six stab wounds.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed concern, questioning the motive behind the attack. Police are continuing their investigation.
