Tue Jan 14 21:13:17 UTC 2025: ## Kohli and Pant Included in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy Squad

**New Delhi, India** – Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been named in Delhi’s 41-member provisional squad for the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, sparking excitement among cricket fans. Kohli’s last Ranji Trophy appearance was in 2012, while Pant last played in 2017-18. The squad also includes other international players, Navdeep Saini and Harish Rana.

A press release from the Delhi team stated that the inclusion of international players in the final squad will depend on their availability. Delhi has two remaining matches in the ongoing tournament, facing Saurashtra on January 23rd and Railways on January 30th. If Kohli and Pant choose to participate, they could potentially play against Saurashtra before joining the ODI squad for the series against England.

Both Kohli and Pant have faced criticism for inconsistent form recently. Kohli, despite a century in the Perth Test, averaged 23.75 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while Pant, while showing flashes of brilliance, averaged 28.33.

Notably absent from the provisional squad is fast bowler Mayank Yadav, currently recovering from a back injury. Harish Rana, despite his inclusion in the provisional squad, is unlikely to participate due to his selection in the T20 squad for the England series.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s return to domestic cricket has also been confirmed, with the Indian captain joining the Mumbai Ranji team. He last played red-ball domestic cricket in 2015. The inclusion of these star players in the Ranji Trophy is expected to significantly boost the tournament’s profile.
