Wed Jan 15 11:56:20 UTC 2025: ## Kejriwal Deflects Death Threat Amidst Delhi Poll Campaign; Security Beefed Up

**New Delhi, India** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has dismissed intelligence reports of an assassination plot against him, stating his faith in divine protection. The reports, citing sources within the Delhi Police, allege a pro-Khalistan group, potentially linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), is planning an attack involving a two- or three-person hit squad currently believed to be en route from Punjab.

Kejriwal, while filing his nomination for the February 5th Delhi Assembly elections, responded to the threat by stating, “God will save me,” and that he will live as long as his lifeline allows. He emphasized his faith, citing a religious proverb about divine protection.

Delhi Police have confirmed they are reviewing Kejriwal’s security arrangements in light of the threat. The Chief Minister, currently under Z-plus security, is already protected by a substantial detail of 63 personnel including close protection officers, escort teams, and search-and-frisk units. This has been further augmented with 15 additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel. Authorities are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance to prevent any potential attack.

This news comes alongside another significant development: the Union Home Ministry has granted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sanction to prosecute Kejriwal in a money-laundering case connected to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. The ED filed a chargesheet last year, following Kejriwal’s arrest in March. Similar sanctions have been obtained for other accused officials, including former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Kejriwal, currently out on bail, will contest the upcoming elections from the New Delhi constituency.
