Tue Jan 14 13:10:00 UTC 2025: ## US Doubles Reward for Maduro’s Capture to $25 Million
**Miami, FL – January 10, 2025** – The U.S. Department of State announced a significant increase in the reward offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The reward has been doubled from $15 million to $25 million.
Maduro, 62, has been indicted in the U.S. since 2020 on charges of drug trafficking and narco-terrorism. Prosecutors allege his central role in the Cartel of the Suns, a Venezuelan drug trafficking organization comprised of high-ranking officials, involving multi-ton cocaine shipments coordinated with the FARC, a designated terrorist group. The indictment further accuses Maduro of supplying military-grade weapons to the FARC and seeking their assistance in training an unsanctioned militia.
A senior State Department official stated that the reward increase reflects the severity of Maduro’s alleged crimes and the ongoing threat he poses to international stability. The U.S. also continues to refuse to recognize Maduro’s contested re-election in July 2024.
Individuals with information about Maduro’s whereabouts are urged to contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate, or the local Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) office within the United States.
