Mon Jan 13 18:20:04 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka to Launch Mobile App to Curb KCET Seat-Blocking Scam
**Bengaluru, January 14, 2025** – The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will soon launch a dedicated mobile application to streamline the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) application process and prevent seat-blocking scams, Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar announced late Friday.
The app aims to address misuse of login credentials by applicants using third-party cyber centers, a problem that led to several instances of seat-blocking during KCET-2024. The new app will allow applicants, particularly those in rural areas, to fill out forms directly from their mobile phones, eliminating the need for cyber cafes and reducing the risk of credential theft. The app is expected to be launched in time for KCET-2025.
Minister Sudhakar also highlighted the involvement of an insider in the recent scam, urging KEA staff to uphold public trust and resist any corrupt inducements. Furthermore, the state government has appealed to the Union government to reconsider the medical admissions qualifying criteria, proposing a formula that incorporates both NEET scores and class 12 marks. A response from the Centre is awaited.
