Mon Jan 13 23:23:00 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Minister Sets Six-Month Deadline for Pending Cases
**Bengaluru, January 14, 2025** – Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda issued a six-month ultimatum to sub-divisional Assistant Commissioners (ACs) to clear a backlog of nearly 60,000 long-pending cases. Addressing ACs via videoconference, Mr. Gowda warned of disciplinary action against those failing to meet the deadline.
The Minister highlighted that the law mandates a six-month limit for case resolution, yet only 55% of the backlog has been cleared since the Congress government took office in 2023. He urged regular ACs to process at least 200-250 cases monthly, and special ACs to handle 70-100 cases per month. The government’s initial aim was to clear all pending cases within a year to alleviate public hardship.
