**New Delhi –** The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating voter lists in the New Delhi assembly constituency, alleging the BJP is transferring votes from across the country using the addresses of its MPs and ministers residing in the area. However, the New Delhi district election officer has refuted these claims, stating that applications for voter additions and deletions are thoroughly scrutinized and processed according to Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal led a delegation to the Election Commission earlier today, presenting evidence of alleged BJP voter list manipulation. Kejriwal claimed BJP MPs submitted applications to add 30-40 names each to the voter rolls. The election officer, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), countered that each application (Forms 6 and 7) undergoes rigorous review.
The AAP also accused BJP candidates of distributing items like bedsheets, shoes, and jackets, alleging bribery. However, the election officer stated that no credible evidence, such as photographs or witness statements, has been provided to support these allegations.
The Model Code of Conduct is currently in effect, and the election officer confirmed that police and a Flying Squad are actively monitoring the situation. The BJP has denied all allegations of voter list manipulation and bribery. The Election Commission is yet to issue a formal statement on the AAP’s complaints.
