**Prayagraj, India** – As millions of devotees gather for the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, a unique story of selfless service is unfolding. Dinesh Swaroop Brahmachari, affectionately known as “Chai Wale Baba,” a former tea seller turned monk, is providing free coaching to aspiring civil servants. For 40 years, Baba has remained silent, communicating with his students solely through gestures and WhatsApp messages.
Despite his vow of silence and sustenance on only ten cups of tea daily, Baba dedicates his life to guiding students, offering study materials and answering their questions via the messaging app. One aspiring civil servant, speaking to ANI, described Baba’s unique teaching method as effective, stating that written communication serves its purpose despite the lack of verbal interaction. Baba himself explains his silence allows him to focus his energy on helping others. His goal, he writes, is to educate and empower students to become government officials.
The Maha Kumbh is also showcasing another act of selfless service: Rabri Baba, also known as Shri Mahant Devgiri, is captivating devotees with his daily distribution of creamy rabri, a sweet treat, from early morning until late at night. His generosity adds another layer of spiritual significance to the ongoing pilgrimage. Both Chai Wale Baba and Rabri Baba are testament to the spirit of devotion and service that defines the Maha Kumbh.
