Mon Jan 13 16:02:36 UTC 2025: ## Mahakumbh 2025 Expected to Boost India’s GDP by 1%
**Prayagraj, India** – The upcoming Mahakumbh Mela in 2025 is projected to significantly boost India’s economy, with economists predicting a turnover of approximately ₹4 lakh crore (US$48 billion), contributing to a 1% increase in the nation’s GDP. This year’s event holds particular significance due to a rare 144-year celestial alignment, leading to expectations of record-breaking pilgrim attendance, exceeding previous Mahakumbhs.
Extensive logistical arrangements are in place to accommodate the massive influx of devotees, including the deployment of 7,000 buses, 32 aircraft, and 344 trains. Authorities have prioritized crowd management and pilgrim safety, implementing a master plan that includes designated “Amrit Snan” (holy bath) areas at each ghat (river bank).
Luxury accommodations are also available, with tent cities featuring high-end options from companies like Swiss Cottage, Darbari, and Maharaj, commanding rents exceeding ₹1 lakh (US$12,000) per unit. Security is a top priority, with senior police officials, including ADGs, DIGs, and SSPs, overseeing operations and conducting regular patrols throughout the mela area. The 2025 Mahakumbh promises to be a significant religious and economic event for India.
