**Prayagraj, India** – The upcoming Mahakumbh Mela in 2025 is projected to significantly boost India’s economy, with economists predicting a turnover of approximately ₹4 lakh crore (US$48 billion), contributing to a 1% increase in the nation’s GDP. This year’s event holds particular significance due to a rare 144-year celestial alignment, leading to expectations of record-breaking pilgrim attendance, exceeding previous Mahakumbhs.
Extensive logistical arrangements are in place to accommodate the massive influx of devotees, including the deployment of 7,000 buses, 32 aircraft, and 344 trains. Authorities have prioritized crowd management and pilgrim safety, implementing a master plan that includes designated “Amrit Snan” (holy bath) areas at each ghat (river bank).
