Sat Jan 11 07:18:10 UTC 2025: ## Balochistan Rocked by Fresh Wave of Militant Attacks

**KARACHI, PAKISTAN – January 11, 2025** – A series of attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province over the past three days has left at least six dead and several injured, highlighting a surge in militant activity. The latest incident involved an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting a truck carrying Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in Chaman city on Friday. While no FC personnel were harmed, four civilians sustained injuries. Police reported the IED was remotely detonated from a roadside motorcycle.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind condemned the attack as a “cowardly act,” vowing to protect citizens and thwart further violence. The attacks follow a recent pattern of escalating violence. Last Saturday, a deadly attack on an FC bus claimed six lives – an incident the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for. Further attacks included assaults on the residences of a minister and a deputy commissioner, as well as an attack on a Levies checkpost and a cement factory.

The recent spike in violence follows a year that saw a significant number of attacks. Official figures from 2024 show that at least 685 security personnel were killed in 444 terror attacks. The heightened activity has raised concerns about the stability of the region and the effectiveness of counter-terrorism measures.
