**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – January 13, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh woke up to a vibrant display of Bhogi celebrations this morning, marking the beginning of the Sankranti festival. From villages to cities, residents enthusiastically built and lit traditional bonfires, filling the air with festive cheer and the sounds of traditional games and music.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu extended his warmest wishes to the people of the state, hoping the Bhogi fires would burn away their troubles and bring prosperity. Minister Lokesh echoed these sentiments, expressing his hope that the festive flames would illuminate lives with new opportunities.
Celebrations were widespread, with reports of large-scale Bhogi mandals erected in various locations. In East Godavari district, a particularly impressive 20-foot-high bonfire was constructed under the guidance of local leader Dwarampudi Venkat Reddy. Similar festivities were witnessed in Nellore, where Municipal Minister Narayana participated in the celebrations, and across the state, with MLAs and other officials joining in the community events. The Tirumala Srivari Temple also observed the tradition with a bonfire ceremony before the temple’s main entrance.
The festive spirit wasn’t limited to just bonfires. MP Kesineni Nani celebrated at his office in Vijayawada, while MLA Chadalawada Arvind Babu danced with supporters at the TDP office in Narasaraopet. Minister Savita also participated in Bhogi celebrations at her residence in Penukonda. Across Vijayanagaram district, the festivities were marked by traditional performances like Harikatha and Gangireddu.
The overall atmosphere throughout the state was one of joyous anticipation for the Sankranti festival, highlighting a vibrant cultural celebration for all.
