Sat Jan 11 17:08:26 UTC 2025: **BJP Leader Criticizes Congress’s Handling of Constitution at Book Launch**
MANGALORE, INDIA – January 12, 2025 – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai sharply criticized the Indian National Congress’s approach to the Constitution at a book launch event in Udupi, Karnataka on Saturday. Speaking at the “Samvidhan Samman” program and the release of “Samvidhana Badalayisiddu Yaru” (Who Changed the Constitution?), authored by Vikas Puttur, Annamalai accused the Congress of using B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, for political gain while simultaneously undermining his legacy.
Annamalai argued that Congress amendments to the Constitution were primarily self-serving, contrasting them with the eight amendments he claimed the current BJP government had enacted in line with Ambedkar’s vision. He specifically highlighted the Modi government’s efforts towards women’s reservation as an example of upholding Ambedkar’s ideals. He further asserted that the nation’s priority should be strengthening, not simply saving, the Constitution, and called for a more accurate portrayal of Ambedkar’s history for younger generations. The event was presided over by Gokuldas Barkur, and attended by several other dignitaries.
