Sun Jan 12 07:40:00 UTC 2025: ## India Dominates Ireland in First ODI, Winning by 6 Wickets
**Rajkot, India:** India cruised to a comfortable victory over Ireland in the first One Day International (ODI) of their three-match series in Rajkot today. Chasing a target of 239, India reached the total with more than 15 overs to spare, winning by six wickets and taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
Ireland, batting first, found themselves in early trouble, losing two wickets inside the PowerPlay. A 117-run partnership between captain Gaby Lewis (92 runs off 129 balls, including 15 fours) and Leah Paul (59 runs) revived their innings, however, India’s bowlers fought back, restricting Ireland to 238/7. Priya Mishra (2-56) and Aimee Maguire (3-57) were the pick of the bowlers.
India’s reply was anchored by a strong opening stand of 70 runs between Smriti Mandhana (41 runs off 29 balls) and Pratika Rawal (89 runs off 70 balls). Despite the loss of a few wickets in the middle order, including Mandhana and Harleen Deol, Tejal Hasabnis’ unbeaten 53 provided the finishing touch, ensuring a convincing win for the hosts.
The impressive performance sets the stage for a thrilling continuation of the series. India will be looking to build on their strong start, while Ireland will hope to regroup and challenge the hosts in the upcoming matches.
