**Tiruvarur, Tamil Nadu – January 13, 2025** – A 27-year-old man, Jayaraj, has been arrested in Tiruvarur district for the murder of his younger brother, Jayaraman, 23. The incident, stemming from a family dispute, occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Dhiyanapuram.
Police reports indicate that an argument escalated between Jayaraj and his wife, Danalakshmi. When Jayaraman intervened to support his sister-in-law, Jayaraj became enraged. Despite attempts by their mother and sister to de-escalate the situation, Jayaraj allegedly attacked Jayaraman with a sickle, resulting in his death at the scene.
Both brothers worked as welders and lived in nearby houses. The family also includes another brother, Jayapradap, who works in Coimbatore.
The Tiruvarur taluk police have registered a case against Jayaraj on charges of murder and have taken him into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
